Karen Green
Karen Green is the Curator for Comics and Cartoons at Columbia University in New York. A lifelong comics fan, she initiated Butler Library’s graphic novels collection in 2005, and began acquiring comics creator archives in 2011.
She wrote a monthly column, “Comic Adventures in Academia,” for the ComiXology website from 2007 to 2012, has planned numerous events and panels, including 2012’s two-day Comic New York symposium and the Fall 2014 exhibition “Comics at Columbia: Past,Present, Future,” was a producer of the documentary “She Makes Comics,” and has spoken about using comics in an academic milieu at universities around the country.
She served as a judge for the Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards in 2011 and for the Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Cartooning in 2015.
She is currently vice-chair of the board of directors of the New York Museum Society of Illustrators and she was recently promoted to “Librarian IV”, the highest ranking at Columbia University in the field.
